English Freelance Writer Interview
Personal interests are activities that are of great concern and importance in my life. They determine the cycle of happiness in my life and are the foundation on which every activity I undertake is built. These are activities that I fancy and enjoy doing out of the normal working environment. My interests are swimming, reading and writing, watching movies and cooking.
I do swimming as a recreational activity twice per month. I undertake swimming sessions with my family in the afternoon of every first Saturday and mid-Saturday of the month. Our local town center has a modern public open air swimming pool with good trained coaches and life-savers. The environment is cool and relaxing, making it ideal for refreshing a mind and body that has been busy throughout the week.
I love reading newspapers, story books, and professional journals. My favorite journal is the British Engineer, which is published once a month. Apart from reading, I have a passion for helping friends in writing and editing their resume when applying for jobs or work. My writing passion has made me be the preferred choice for the secretary general position in three local residential welfare associations and the departmental secretary at my workplace.
Watching thrilling action packed movies at my local cinema theater in the company of my family is an interest I love. At least once a month we can go to the cinema and watch an interesting movie. Occasionally, I also follow up on TV series movies that are aired on local TV channels every weekend.
Cooking is one interest that I have fond memories. I started cooking for my family at the age of 12 years. With both my parents out of the house on duty, it was my responsibility as the elder sibling to take care and prepare meals for my brothers and sisters. From that point forward, I developed a liking for cooking traditional British foods. The most common food is the sun dried goat meat that is a favorite meal in the family. Academically, I have gone through the mandatory primary and secondary school education of the Republic of Britain. In both cases, I have excelled in the national examinations and proceeded to the next level. At the secondary school, I was the third best student with a score of 86 points out of a maximum of 120 points. In 1994, I then joined Liverpool University, to pursue a 5-year Bachelor of Technology degree in Production Engineering that I completed in 1999 with a second-class honor. The degree course included class work, practical sessions, industrial attachments, and a final year project.
After employment, I have pursued several professional qualifications in peer education training, project management, facilities management, statistical process control, and electrical & compressed air systems. I have also trained in CAD/CAM and production engineering at the Polytechnic University in Japan. Currently, I am enrolled for a 2 – year Masters degree in Project Management from the University of England. I am pursuing the course on a part-time basis by attending evening classes from 1800hrs to 2000hrs (Monday – Friday) and full-time classes on Saturdays from 0800hrs to 1700hrs in the evening.
